  2. Pack a suncream, a sunglasses, water. Put on comfy shoes and go on an adventure!

Mackerel Beach to West Head lookout:

  • To Palm Beach wharf you will get by bus. You need to get off on Barrenjoey Rd (210819). The best is Sunday for travelling as transport cost is 2,50 AUD for whole day commuting
  • Trekking time is about 1-2 hours return. We will suggest starting not later than 12:00 pm from Palm Beach. The ferry goes every hour click here to check timetable (8.20 AUD student return)
  • Your ferry stop is Mackerel beach – here we start our trekking. (If you have more time then you can stop for 1-2 hours on Basin Campground and see Wallabies)
  • After off boarding you Mackerel Beach you should go right along the beach. In the end, you will see a small information plate about a track. Firstly it’s a little bit steep and hard to find a trail through rocks.
  • On the way, you should stop for a short swimming in a small beautiful hidden beach – Resolute Beach. Don’t forget a towel!
  • After swimming it’s about 20-30 minutes to reach West Head lookout. It’s the best lookout on Palm beach and surroundings so far. It’s totally worth it!
  • We returned with the same trail. You can catch a return ferry from Mackerel Beach.
  • More information and detailed map you can find on website www.wildwalks.com.
